Frequently asked questions

Answers about PNG/SVG uploads, PES and DST downloads, pricing, hoop sizes, refunds, and how StitchConvert works. Unpaid previews are deleted after 7 days; paid downloads stay available for 1 year.

What files can I use?

PNG and SVG only. JPG and other formats are not supported. If you only have a JPG, see our image guidelines for how to convert it. For photos or complex artwork, a clean SVG export often gives the best results.

What type of images work best?

Bold, flat-color artwork with solid filled shapes: icons, mascots, monograms, patches, and simple illustrations. Embroidery machines stitch solid regions of thread, so think graphic prints, not fine pencil sketches. Photos, gradients, tiny separate shapes, thin strokes, and very small text usually convert poorly. See our image guidelines for examples.

Can I upload any image?

Only if you own the design or have permission to convert it. Do not upload copyrighted logos, brand marks, sports team artwork, or other third-party designs without authorization. See our image guidelines and Terms for details.

I only have a JPG. What do I do?

Convert your JPG first, then upload the result here. For a quick fix, convert JPG to PNG on FreeConvert (https://www.freeconvert.com/jpg-to-png). For logos, convert PNG to SVG on FreeConvert (https://www.freeconvert.com/png-to-svg) usually works better. See our image guidelines for more detail.

What file formats do I get when I pay?

Every paid download is a ZIP with both .pes and .dst files. You always receive both formats in one ZIP, not one or the other.

What is an embroidery file?

An embroidery file tells your machine where to stitch and when to change thread. StitchConvert produces .pes (compatible with many home embroidery machines; thread colors included) and .dst (universal stitch data) files in each download.

Why do DST colors look undefined in my software?

That is normal. The .dst format does not store thread names or colors, only stitch paths and color-change stops. Use the .pes file in your machine's embroidery software for on-screen colors, or assign threads manually to each color stop when using .dst.

How much does it cost?

Each download (PES + DST ZIP) is $4.99. You can preview your stitches before paying so you know exactly what you're getting.

What do I get after I pay?

Your PES + DST ZIP download, plus up to 5 stitch-setting adjustments and 2 image replacements on the same job link.

Can I use this on Windows and Mac?

Yes. StitchConvert runs in your web browser. No software to install.

Do I need digitizing experience?

No. Upload your PNG or SVG, map colors, preview the stitches, and download your PES + DST ZIP. See our image guidelines for tips on preparing artwork that converts well.

What hoop sizes are supported?

Choose a hoop preset when you upload. We support common home-machine hoop sizes. Pick the size that matches your machine for the most accurate preview.

Are downloads refundable?

No. All sales are final. Your PES + DST ZIP is delivered immediately and cannot be refunded. See our terms for details.

How long is my job link available?

If you haven't paid, your job link and files are deleted automatically 7 days after upload. Once you pay, we keep your job link and your PES + DST ZIP for 1 year, so you can re-download from the same link. Save the link — it's the only way back to your design, and we can't recover files after they're deleted.

How do I report a bug?

We don't offer general support or custom digitizing. If something is broken, email stitchconvertinfo@gmail.com with your job link, what you expected, what happened, and your browser and OS. Before you pay, you can request design help from your job page for a look at that preview. We respond when we can; this is not custom digitizing.
